Michalis - Chef Leader
About 30 years ago he served his first creation in PITHARI, which was the only tavern in the area at the time. Since then thousands of people from all over the world have tasted his unique recipes. He owns a farm and produces extra virgin olive oil and the exceptional wine of the taverna from a variety of grapes that are traditionally grown on Crete.
The red wine he produces is his favourite and he accompanies it with a portion of “Pithari lamb”. He loves the traditional dessert loukoumades. He spends his free time in the farm breeding wild game. -
Willy - Quality control
She is from Holland and used to work as an airhostess for KLM until she landed in the arms of Michalis.Together they set up the taverna and the farm, which she visits regularly. She speaks Dutch, English, French and Greek. She is in charge of ensuring top quality regarding everything that is served in the taverna.
At the same time she takes care of every detail concerning the decoration of the indoor and outdoor areas. Her favourite dish is the “Meze” and as dessert she prefers greek yogurt with and walnuts. -
Maria - Cocktails
She is the youngest of the group in Pithari. She is known for her efficiency and her weakness for cocktails which she will happily prepare for you. her favourite language is Dutch, she is also fluent in 3 other languages; English, French and Greek. She is very fond of the sea and loves the view from the roofgarden, so it’s not surprising that she is in charge of running it.
She is a vegetarian and likes fresh juices and greek yogurt with fresh fruit. During her free time she enjoys taking walks in the old pebbled streets of the village and playing volleyball. Her team has excelled locally. -
Jorgos - Public Relations
He made his first baby steps in the Taverna. He is responsible for the Public Relations and he probably will be the first person you meet entering the tavern. He speaks English, Dutch and Greek. He is a very open and friendly person. Sea food is his favourite dish and he loves homemade apple pie.
He likes to finish his meals by taking a shot of raki. The first thing he does every year is tasting the newly made raki, which is produced in the traditional so called “rakokazano”. He very much enjoys to hunt early in the morning.
